ABOUT THE WCP DINNER THEATER

The Washington County Playhouse is located in the heart of Historic Downtown Hagerstown, Maryland and has been entertaining the tri-state area for more than 20 years.  Each season consists of six shows that run for approximately two months at a time.  We are open most Friday and Saturday evenings, and some Sunday afternoons.  The WCP offers attractive rates for groups of fifteen or more and is the perfect option for your next Holiday Party or event.  Call today for an evening of fun, fabulous food and top entertainment!

Growing up in Reno, Kelly Jenkins was no stranger to the stage. She began her dancing career at age 2. While at college, she taught dance at a studio and performed at the MGM Grand. Kelly went on to dance on the Norwegian Cruise Lines “S.S. Norway” and eventually landed in Spain where she would dance at La Scala Hotel. Kelly performed on a Saturday night variety show on Spanish television from 1987 through 1990 and also worked as a professional choreographer for the show. While dancing her way from Morocco to Northern Spain from 1986 to 1991 with her own touring company, Kelly was also working for Jean Ann Ryan Productions lending her talents as a professional choreographer to productions in Florida & Seoul Korea. Kelly and her family moved to Hagerstown where she opened Dancin’ Time Studios on Mount Aetna Road and soon made her debut on the “Playhouse” stage in the 1992 production of “Oklahoma”.

In September 1998, the “Playhouse” began a new era under the ownership of Kelly and her mother Dixie Odermatt.  Dixie also serves as the business manager for the WCP and is the lovely voice you'll hear when you call our Box Office.  Since then, patron’s have enjoyed such show’s as “Crazy For You”, “Nunsense”, Neil Simon’s “Rumors” and the wildly popular “Shake, Rattle, & Roll” series! You will often find Kelly wearing the hats of Producer, Director, Choreographer, Set Designer, Lighting Designer, & Costumer. Oh, and Actress! That’s just the kind of girl she is!

The Washington County Playhouse has been blessed with a solid group of regular performers in it’s rich 20 year history. Some of the long time performers who have most recently graced our stage are Susan Strider, Loretta Czerbinski, Alfredo Jimenez, Earl Moreland, Zane Oberholzer Jr., Brandon Jimenez, Shawn Martin, Amanda Herold, Bubby & Sophie Lewis, Evan McKenzie & Andrew Rittenhouse.

It’s always exciting to have new talent on our stage, so if you’ve ever thought you might enjoy performing at the “Playhouse”, please visit our “Audition” page for current information about upcoming show auditions!
